We have a noticeboard with details regarding pets. Some of the catagories are lost and found, pets available and pets wanted. If you would like to place a notice or our noticeboard please drop it into the clinic at 58 Welcome Bay Road.

How to Protect your Pet:

  • Get some good close up photos of your pet now.
  • Fence your section and ensure there are no escape routes and the gate is secure (for dogs).
  • Never allow your dog to roam freely in the neighbourhood.
  • Attach tags to your pet's collar with contact details (these can be ordered through the clinic).
  • Always transport cats in a cage when travelling elsewhere. A cat can bolt when frightened by loud noises.
  • Spey or neuter your pet. They are less likely to wander if "fixed".

How to find a lost dog or cat:

  • Search the property thoroughly. Cats and small dogs can get into some very strange places such as in cupboards or drawers, under houses, in garages, sheds and cars.
  • Walk the neighbourhood, talk to everybody and leave your phone number. Call your pet's name.
  • Put flyers everywhere - in letter boxes on lamp posts in the local shops.
  • Phone the local vet clinics or check their noticeboards.
  • Phone the SPCA on 5780 245.
  • Phone Tauranga District Council on 5777 000. Tauranga Dog Pound (Animal Care Centre) Hewletts Road, Mt Maunganui (next to Vehicle Testing Station) is open Monday to Friday 12:30pm to 1:00pm and 4:00pm to 4:30pm. Dog Pound Ph 5777165.
  • The Western Bay Council is 5718 008.
If a clinic, pound or the SPCA has taken in any animal that even remotely resembles your pet visit them in person. Your description of your pet may be different to theirs.
  • Leave a picture of your pet and your phone number at each shelter.
  • Place a free advertisement in the Bay of Plenty Times (phone 578 3059). Also advertise in the Bay News and Weekend Sun.
  • Check the newspaper for animals found.
  • Contact the radio stations: Radioworks and Radio Coastline, phone 5710 444.
  • Search the internet site for lost and found pets: www.petsonthenet.co.nz
