-
Fence
your section and ensure there are no escape routes and the gate is
secure (for dogs).
-
Never
allow your dog to roam freely in the neighbourhood.
-
Attach
tags to your pet's collar with contact details (these can be ordered
through the clinic).
-
Always
transport cats in a cage when travelling elsewhere. A cat can bolt
when frightened by loud noises.
-
Spey
or neuter your pet. They are less likely to wander if "fixed".
How
to find a lost dog or cat:

the property thoroughly. Cats and small dogs can get into some very
strange places such as in cupboards or drawers, under houses, in garages,
sheds and cars.
-
Walk
the neighbourhood, talk to everybody and leave your phone number.
Call your pet's name.
-
Put
flyers everywhere - in letter boxes on lamp posts in the local shops.
-
Phone
the local vet clinics or check their noticeboards.
